About Us

Shifnal Theatrical and Repertory Society (S.T.A.R.S.) is a very young drama group by most standards. We formed very late in 2010 on a freezing snowy night in an equally freezing church. It was initially formed to produce a one off performance at the Shifnal Arts festival in autumn 2011. We immediately expanded our remit and performed Confusions by Alan Ayckbourn for 3 nights entertaining over 300 people at the Arts Festival. In addition to that we took two of the short pieces from Confusions to the Golden Beak Festival and won best play, runner up best play, best actor and a nomination for best actress.

Buoyed by this success we moved forward into 2012 with the intention of running like any other normal amateur theatre group. As a result we went from strength to strength. We put on three full length plays including two ambitious plays linked by a set and theme (Flatspin and Gameplan).

This year we have further cemented our position with two superb productions including a night of one act plays to “blood” new directors and give the audience something a little different. We move into 2014 with plans aplenty and enthusiasm by the bucketfull.

We are a small friendly group made up of people in and around Shifnal. We welcome allcomers whether they want to be on stage, work backstage or even just be sociable and join in the fun of organising us all. Come along and join us (see the Contact Us Page for more details).
